When is this safe to start post cesarean? Is 6 weeks too early?

Hi there. Thanks for the question- it really depends on how your delivery went, as well as how your recovery is going and you want to just get clearance from your care provider. In general 6 to 8 weeks would be when most doctors and midwives would approve gentle physical activity but this varies depending on mode of delivery, pre existing medical conditions and your postpartum experience. I’m sure your care provider will have some guidance- these exercises are safe and gentle but everyone has a different recovery experience :) hope this helps. Sj

My baby is two and a half years old, and I re-started my favourite physical activities soon enough, but I have neglected core exercises partly out of fear. I wish I had done this video a lot sooner; I can just about do the full sequence now. I hope to graduate to more challenging videos with a few repetitions of this.

This is a great practice that I wish I had earlier in my postpartum period, but it's still effective for checking in to my body 13 months postpartum. It incorporates a lot of the movements my physiotherapist has recommended, and is a nice way to make sure I'm tapping into my core safely and effectively as well as getting a good stretch from all the baby-carrying and nursing I'm doing.
