When doing our online classes, do you ever wonder if your pose looks ‘right’ or not? Because really, how are we supposed to know what our back leg or arm is doing when it’s out of sight in Warrior II or during core work? Unless you’re practicing in a space with large mirrors or have a hands-on teacher with you, alignment can be VERY difficult to figure out!
We at Do Yoga With Me know this difficulty all too well–we’ve experienced it first hand in our own practices and have heard from you about it too.
So, we’d like to try out a fun new solution with you: the Smart Mirror. It’s an exciting online tool that will help you visualize and correct your posture while you practice with us!
The Smart Mirror works by tracking and identifying your position in space as you practice, using nothing but your phone or computer’s camera. You’ll be able to see an enhanced image of your posture alongside your class so you can easily make adjustments to your alignment as you go. The Smart Mirror can even give you suggestions. Cool hey?
What’s more, this tool does not store any personal data so you can be assured your privacy is completely safeguarded. It’s simply a live, moment to moment visualization of your movements as you practice with your favorite teachers.
We want to hear from you about your experiences and whether or not you find the Smart Mirror of benefit to your practice. Once you’ve finished a class, a pop-up will appear with a link to a quick questionnaire. Take a minute to fill it out so we know whether you found it useful and if so, which classes work best.
If you are curious about how this might enhance and refine your yoga practice (or are simply interested in messing around with this new technology) try one of our 10 Smart Mirror classes below!

Thank you - I thought the mirror was cool! I was surprised to see how straight my back was! I think it could also help me improve my practice as I could see where I wasn't so straight or not quite like Tracey ;)

Hey Cindy-d.Smith, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup helping DYWM develop the Smart Mirror. Thanks for trying out the Smart Mirror and for your feedback! Much appreciated! :)
This mirror is not my thing- couldn't find any added value in using it. I practice for over 10 years and while I don't think my alignment is perfect, I found it strange that sometimes the alignment lines appeared on my body and at other times not.
Hey Nour76, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup helping DYWM develop the Smart Mirror. Thanks a lot for your feedback! So sorry to hear that it hasn't fully supported your practice. If you have any suggestions on how we can make it tailored to your personal routine, we'd be more than happy to make improvements. Feel free to drop us a message at "[email protected]" anytime, thanks!
Regarding the alignment lines, unfortunately, they might disappear if you're not fully framed, we're working on it to make it even better ✨
i kept seeing white lines at the places of my arms and legs. I found it distracting to try to look at myself. I couldn't concentrate as well on feeling my body. The picture of me on my laptop screen was too small to be of real use.
Hey Nancy, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup helping DYWM develop the Smart Mirror. So sorry to hear it's been distracting for you, but maybe I have a solution!
Did you know that you can hide the Smart Mirror box whenever you want? Just hover your cursor over it, and two buttons will appear. The one on the left minimizes the box, so you can focus better on your body. If you need to check your alignments, you can reopen it whenever you prefer.
Also, you can widen the box by clicking the button on the right. Check out the photo below for a better understanding! If you have more suggestions or questions, let us know, thanks! :)
Can't wait to try it and I think it is a wonderful initiative on your part. Of course, there will be a few bumps and starts before it is working well for everyone. I have been doing Jonni-Lyn Friel's wrist-free classes for a few weeks due to an injury but will try it when I recover.
Hey IntiRumis, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup helping DYWM develop the Smart Mirror. Thanks for the kind comment! Wishing you a speedy recovery! Let us know how it goes when you try it out :)
I love Tracey's classes and this particular one, Lean In, was perfect at the end of an entire day of sitting, which I am bad at and accustomed to. Tracey provides wonderful demonstration that accompany her words of what to do. So to see myself portrayed was an equally good experience. However, the mirror only showed my torso or my trunk, depending on what I was doing. I look forward to seeing how the AI for this mirror concepts improves over time. Thank you
Hey Gremlin, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup helping DYWM build the Smart Mirror. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! To see all the alignment lines clearly, make sure your entire body is within the frame; that way, no lines will go missing! We'll absolutely keep you in the loop with any updates ✨
Ooooh, brilliant idea, will definitely be giving this a try!
Hey LucyHB, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup helping DYWM build the Smart Mirror. So glad you're excited about it! Give it a try and let us know how it goes! 😊
Cool! I liked being able to check my alignment every once in a while.
Hey Itsmaha, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup helping DYWM build the Smart Mirror. Thanks for your feedback! You've captured the essence of this experience - it's not a must to keep it open (you can hide it by hovering and clicking the left button), but it's there whenever you need a quick check! 😊
I like the idea but I wasn’t able to see anything different on my iPad for Fiji's class. Is there something that should be done to turn on to make it work? I’d love to try it out!
Hey LorraineP, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup helping DYWM build the Smart Mirror. It's totally normal that you haven't seen anything because currently, the Smart Mirror is available only for use on desktop. But don't worry, we're working on making it available on iPad very soon! Thanks a lot for your feedback ✨
I did Tracey’s practice on my iPad and there was no smart mirror. What is required electronically to use the tech?
Thank you,
Rhonda
Hey Rpayne21B, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup helping DYWM develop the Smart Mirror. Currently, this experience is available only for use on desktop, but we'll be making it available on iPad very soon, thanks for asking! :)
I'd love to try that but it doesn't seem to work on my phone... What is the minim setting required? Do we have to install sthg?
Thanks for the originality of the concept though, I love it already :)
Hey Ciloo, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup helping DYWM develop the Smart Mirror. Thanks for your kind words! Currently, the Smart Mirror is available for use only on desktop.
We're working on bringing it to iPad soon, but it might be a bit challenging to adapt it to small phone screens. We'll do our best! ✨
Hi friends at DYWM, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup helping DYWM develop the Smart Mirror! Thank you all for your kind words and the feedback you've provided to enhance this experience. We truly appreciate!
If you have any questions or encounter any issues while using it and need a quick fix, don't hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] anytime, happy practicing! ✨
What an interesting and forward-thinking tool! I could see how some would benefit from this, but as of now I'll wait until it's developed a little more.
I noticed that even if I subtly shifted my body into the wrong alignment that the little dots didn't move much, and it wasn't obvious I wasn't in proper form. Perhaps if the lines and dots could not only detect such subtle changes (which I know can come with time as the technology evolves) but maybe they could also change colors to let you know if there's a misalignment-- that would be easier to catch the eye and the users can still also focus on the video rather than themselves. All that to say, however, I'm truly impressed with this initiative! Very cool idea.
Hey lucklovekarma, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup partnering with DYWM on the Smart Mirror. Thanks a lot for sharing your feedback!
Your suggestion to add color to certain parts of the lines for better focus is absolutely fantastic, and it might not be too far from what's coming in the near future 👀
Stay tuned, and thanks for being part of this exciting journey with us! :)
There was no smart mirror appearing on my ipad.
Hey Arctica, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup helping DYWM develop the Smart Mirror. Currently, the Smart Mirror is available for use only on desktop. Give it a try on a laptop if you can! But don't worry, we'll be rolling it out for iPad soon too :)
I thought the Smart Mirror had potential. I think just like any tool, it helps to know how to use it optimally. I'll leave more details on using it on the official feedback form. I think the mirror would be a good refresh / clean-up tool to use from time to time.
Hi Dave, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup working with DYWM on the Smart Mirror. Thanks a bunch for sharing your thoughts!
You've really grasped the essence of the tool—it can be super handy for making those small adjustments from time to time. We're planning to introduce some demo videos in the near future to help you make the most of it, along with several experience improvements. Stay tuned! 😊
I agree with you Dave!
I agree with you Dave!
Hmmm... I clicked on the links for the classes, but none of them appeared with the mirror feature. Any suggestions as to how I activate it?
Hello Comox, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup assisting DYWM with the Smart Mirror. Thanks for your feedback!
If you didn't notice any changes during the class, it could be because you joined using a device other than a laptop. Just a quick note, the Smart Mirror is currently set up for desktop computers only. However, if this isn't quite your case, feel free to drop us a line at "[email protected]," that's where we can best assist you :)
I was excited to try this new feature, however, when I clicked on the link for Lean In, it was the regular class with no smart mirror. I'd love to try the new feature, but it wasn't available. Did I miss something?
Hey Kara, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup assisting DYWM with developing the Smart Mirror. Thanks so much for sharing your feedback!
If you didn't notice anything different in the class, it's probably because you joined with a device other than a laptop. Currently, the Smart Mirror is available only on desktop. If this wasn't the case, feel free to reach out to us at "[email protected]" anytime 😊
I love the smart mirror. It allowed me to make subtle adjustments that made the pose easier. Please make it an option for all of your classes! Thanks.
Hey gretchenc, it's Andrea from Gymnasio, the startup working with DYWM on the Smart Mirror. Your kind words really put a smile on our faces, and we're so glad the SM made a difference for you. Keep an eye out for updates, there's more to come! ✨
Sorry, I should have read all the comments first. I was trying this with an iPad Air and just learned that I need to use my laptop.
This sounds really neat! I will definitely give it a try when I am able.
Over all I think this is totally cool. However.... While I really like being able to watch my alignment, I didn't think the app integrated well with DO YOGA WITH ME. It was not possible to watch David and see myself. I saw that I could enlarge or make the window smaller, to see myself, but in either case I could not see David, fully. If this was an integrated program with DYWM, I would be willing to pay for the privilege of using it only if I could see whoever's class I am watching. Hope this helps you!
I am new to yoga, so I will be sure to try it. As a perfectionist, I find myself wondering if I am doing something right quite often. Most times there are little things I am doing wrong that make all the difference. Anyway, It sounds amazing.
